Harvey Poffenroth Passes

Trot Insider has learned that racehorse owner Harvey Poffenroth of Calgary, Alberta passed away at home on Friday, July 19 at the age of 86.

Poffenroth was born and raised in the Deer Lake area and took over the family farm, where he continued to farm his entire life. He was also involved in raising and racing standardbred horses for over 30 years. Harvey and his wife, Diane Donaldson, spent their retirement years wintering in La Paz, Mexico, where he enjoyed the sea and was an avid fisherman and boatman.

Harvey had a giving heart and touched the lives of many. He is dearly loved and will be sadly missed.

Besides his loving wife Diane, Harvey is survived by his children, Corinne (Brian) Lynch, Rhonda (Graham) Cannon, Joan Poffenroth, Kevin Poffenroth and Jodie (Tom) Anderson; 11 grandchildren as well as eight great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son, Brian, and infant son, Henry.
