Trot Insider has learned that officials with Bangor Raceway (Maine) and Chester Racetrack (Pennsylvania) have decided to cancel their Friday cards of live harness racing due to excessive heat conditions
.
The cancellations follow a slew of scrapped programs on Thursday, July 21, which came due to the heat wave which has stifled North America's eastern seaboard.
In addition, thoroughbred racetrack, Penn National has cancelled its Friday card. Yesterday, officials with thoroughbred venues Monmouth Park Raceway and Plainridge Racecourse took pre-emptive action and cancelled their track's Friday programs as well.
In anticipation of the extreme heat continuing, Delaware Park has cancelled its thoroughbred card for Saturday, July 23.
