The Meadows Preps For Adios Week

Adios Week, the annual celebration of world-class harness racing and family-oriented fun, kicks off Friday, July 24 at The Meadows Racetrack & Casino and culminates Saturday, August 1 with the final of the 49th Delvin Miller Adios Pace for the Orchids Presented by Coors Light, one of the sport’s premier events for three-year-old pacing colts.

Eliminations for the Adios, The Meadows’ signature race that offers total purse money estimated at $500,000, are set for the evening of Saturday, July 25, with the top finishers returning for the final the following Saturday afternoon. Those two events anchor a week of elite harness racing that features 13 stakes with total purses expected to reach approximately $1.5 million.

Bettors will have lucrative opportunities as well, as the Aug. 1 Adios Day card includes four multi-race wagers with a total of $45,000 in total-pool guarantees.

As usual, Adios Week offers plenty of entertainment for fans, including giveaways, food and beverage specials, live music and fun fare for kids. Among the highlights:

• Friday, July 24. One of the most popular Adios Week events — the final of the annual Miss Adios competition — takes place at 8 p.m. on the track apron.

• Saturday, July 25. Adios Eliminations Night is Family Fun Night sponsored by the Meadows Standardbred Owners Association. Also featured are a 2015 Adios Cap giveaway (for Racing Player Rewards members only) and an Adios Eliminations Pick 4 with a $7,500 total pool guarantee.

• Tuesday, July 28. It’s Harness Racing Bingo! The winner receives a $50 racing voucher plus two seats for the VIP Terrace Patio on Adios Day (Saturday, Aug. 1).

• Wednesday, July 29. ESPN radio broadcasts live from the Racebook.

• Friday, July 31. Live music on the apron from Ferris Bueller’s Revenge. Fans also can observe the assembly of the blanket of orchids presented to the Adios winner.

• Adios Day, Saturday, Aug. 1. The Hobbs Sisters perform live on the apron while ESPN and WJPA radio broadcast live from the Racebook. The powerhouse card includes six Grand Circuit stakes and total-pool guarantees for the Early Pick 4 ($7,500), Adios Pick 3 ($7,500), Adios Pick 4 ($20,000) and Pick 5 ($10,000).
