Red Shores has sent out a pair of releases in advance of its weekend cards of live racing at the Charlottetown Driving Park and Summerside Raceway.
Touch of Lightning is Morning Line Favourite in Charlottetown Feature
Touch Of Lightning has been established at 5-2 odds on the morning line for Saturday’s $2,400 feature race at Red Shores' Charlottetown Driving Park. First-race post time is 6:00 p.m.
Touch Of Lightning, owned by Peter and Don Smith, Gerald Morrissey and Larry Chappell, drew Post 6 for driver Earl Smith after a third place finish in the Governor’s Plate last week in Summerside. The field also includes heavy hitters such Inspired Art (to be driven by Corey MacPherson), Blue Star Outlaw (Jason Hughes), Cambest Kisser (Kenny Arsenault), McApulco (Gilles Barrieau), Lucky Encounter (Walter Cheverie) and Balanchine (Ron Matheson).
Abundaspin, the 13-year-old trotting sensation owned by Mikaela Lustic of Warren Grove, is going for his sixth straight victory in the Clan MacPhail Reunion in Race 6. The teenager will have Harold Shepherd in the bike. Shepherd has engineered the winning streak even setting a track record performance since the horse relocated from Rideau Carlton Raceway in Ottawa. Lustic’s other stable entry, Whitesand Artist, has a good shot of winning the Action Aero pace for driver Brian MacPhee.
The 12-dash card also features the Eric Parsons Memorial with Jamantha and Don MacNeil listed as the favourite.

Creighton Draws the Rail in Summerside Feature; Graham Chappell Memorial Highlights Card
Creighton Hanover will lead the post parade in the afternoon featured event Sunday at Red Shores' Summerside. Post time for the 12-dash card is 1:00 p.m.
Gary Chappell will handle the driving duties on Creighton Hanover for owner Walter Simmons, Summerside and trainer Willis Silliker. The four-year-old son of Camluck is coming off a 1:57.2 romp during Lobster Carnival Week. The morning line oddsmaker is heading to Roscoes Child from Post 4 for the Selkirk Stable of Belfast. Brodie MacPhee will drive. Carrera Angel is also coming off a 1:57.1 career best for owner-trainer Rocky Schurman. The win helped ignite a terrific Barn 4 party on the backstretch. Schurman is back in the bike Sunday.
The line-up also includes Tyler DesRoches’ Rich Raider and Roccos Cavallo, Sparky Bayama with Mike Stevenson, Narragansett from the Foxyhall Racing stable of Summerside and Painted Pony driven by Lobster Carnival Week top driver Marc Campbell. Campbell was presented with the Basil Whelan Memorial trophy.
Fans and family members will pay tribute to a longtime member of the harness racing community when the Graham Chappell Memorial is presented in Race 2. The inside trio are the favorites with Silverhill Princes, Dusty Lane Oliver and Lyndale Delite getting the nod.
Chappell made his last driving appearance July 18, 1992 at Summerside with 1,102 lifetime wins to his credit.
