Organizers behind the nine-dash card of live harness racing that will take place this Saturday (July 18) at St. Esprit in Quebec are eagerly anticipating a day full of music, food and racing.
Officials behind the day of racing have told Trot Insider that there will be a pig roast and music.
Additionally, trainer Rene Allard will make the trip back to the area from the United States for the day’s festivities. His brother, Simon Allard, would have made the trip as well, but he is scheduled to drive at Pocono Downs.
There will also be much reminiscing during the days, as organizers will pay homage to some of the forefathers of the provincial industry.
The featured dash on the card – the $2,000 Invitational Pace –has been slotted as Race 9. Aarons Mattjesty has been installed as the slight 5-2 morning line favourite for the contest. The eight-year-old Royal Mattjesty gelding will be looking to build upon his five-length victory last week in what was a special two and a half-mile race. Denis St-Pierre is scheduled to drive for trainer Daniel LaFlamme.
First-race post time is 1 p.m.
