Of 130 horses to pass through the ring at the Tattersalls 2018 Summer Mixed Sale on Sunday afternoon (July 15) at The Meadowlands, Hurricane Beach and TJ Blast attracted bids of over $100,000 on an afternoon which saw total sales exceed $3.1 million.
Hurricane Beach, a five-time winner who took his career mark of 1:50.4 in a division of the 2017 Somebeachsomewhere, was purchased for $110,000. Allard Racing Inc. takes over ownership of the four-year-old Somebeachsomewhere gelding from Determination.
TJ Blast brought a $100,000 bid from Richard Banca. The five-year-old Yankee Cruiser gelding leaves the Ron Burke stable after winning seven consecutive races, taking his 1:50.2 lifetime mark in an Open event at Northfield on July 2.
Cultural Paradise ($89,000, Jeffrey Smith for Howard Ouriel), Kadabras Temple ($72,000, Mitchel Skolnick) and Te Kawau N ($72,000 Anthony Montini) rounded out the top five high-dollar transactions.
