The 2009 live racing season is fast approaching at Batavia Downs. Opening night is set for Monday, July 27. On Friday, July 31, Batavia Downs Casino is teaming up with the New York State Horse Breeding Development Fund for a New York Sire Stakes baseball cap giveaway.

Patrons may begin swiping their Player’s Club Cards at 5:30 p.m. to receive a ticket that will be redeemed for their NYSS baseball cap after the seventh race. Of course it's nice to have a souvenir from the first Friday night of live racing of the 2009 meet at Batavia Downs Casino, but patrons who return to harness the excitement of New York Sire Stakes races on August 28, September 2, 4, and 26 wearing their NYSS baseball caps will receive $2 free play each night to use on any video gaming machines.

“We are excited to begin the 2009 live racing season with such a great promotion for our patrons,” marketing director for Batavia Downs Casino and Western Regional Off-Track, Marty Biniasz said. “Our extensive promotional schedule for the 2009 meet is sure to allow all of our race fans to enjoy the action.”

"We are happy to partner with Batavia Downs in promoting our New York Sire Stakes events at the track. Batavia Downs plays an integral role in overall success of the New York Sire Stakes program as do the Batavia-area fans," Agriculture & New York State Horse Breeding Development Fund executive director Peter Goold said. "Special events, such as this hat giveaway, are a three-way win for the track, the fund, and the many racing fans. We encourage all Batavia-area racing fans to go to the track for the New York Sire Stakes races throughout the season. And don't forget to wear your NYSS hat for additional free-plays!"

“It is great to be able to team up with the Agriculture & New York State Horse Breeding Development Fund for this promotion as well as exciting New York Sire Stakes Racing,” said Mike Kane, vice president of live racing at Batavia Downs. “The increased purses and quality of the horses provide more excitement for our fans and allows Batavia Downs Casino to be at the forefront with other great tracks throughout New York State thanks to the fund.”
