Clinton's Annual Kids Day Set

Published: July 10, 2012 09:12 am EDT

Bring your family, friends, neighbours and coworkers to this Sunday’s super fun Kids Day at the races. Join Clinton Raceway as we help raise funds for the local YMCA for their Strong Kids Campaign. Entry to annual event is free, with a donation, and kids of all ages can join in the fun.

YMCA Strong Kids is an annual fundraising campaign focused on raising much needed resources to support proven YMCA programs that give kids the opportunities they need to live healthier, happier lives now, but also to grow into productive adults.

Supporting the YMCA Strong Kids Campaign directly supports children, teens and young adults in our community. Last year Clinton supported over 1,500 individuals to participate in recreation in our community, and our goal this year is to raise $55,000 and support even more children, youth & families.

In the park, behind the grandstand at 147 Beech St, you’ll find an array of games, rides and activities. Face painting by Snippity and Jen Jen, get up close and personal with a retired standardbred and get moving with the 7thrace ZUMBA stretch! A charity BBQ, a chance to spin the “Wheel of Toys”, FREE swimming at the Clinton Public Pool and much more awaits you this Sunday from 1:30 - 4:00 p.m.

Alongside the live harness racing card, you’ll also find the famous Mascot Road Show, featuring mascots from all over Ontario strutting their stuff as they go head to head in the coveted Mascot Race. Fill out a ballot for your favourite mascot, cheer them on, and you could win a prize!

How about the chance to drive a race horse? The opportunity could be yours with the Hands On Horses Program and their So You Think You Can Drive Program.

Get dunked! – for a buck a ball, you’ll have the chance to dunk Clinton Raceway Marketing Manager Jessica Carnochan or track announcer Ken Middleton! Also in line up for the tank will be Municipality of Central Huron Mayor Jim Ginn, and Central Huron YMCA Supervisor Toni Gale.

All the fun happens this Sunday, July 15, first race post time 1:30 p.m., with Kids Day events in the park from 1:30 - 4:00.
