Fredericton Cancels After Two Races

Thunder, lightning and heavy rain resulted in a cancellation at Fredericton Raceway. Fans were patient throughout a one-hour delay

, before efforts to drain water which had gathered along the inside position in the homestretch simply failed. As a result, the card was called with only two races declared official.

Bill Watts guided Pondering Magic to a maiden victory in 2:04.4. Watts found a seam coming for home, and rallied from sixth to score by one-half length. Pondering Magic defeated Ammon Seana and Contact Jones, earning his first career victory in only his second lifetime start.

Stephen Trites was at the controls as Hot Shot Mindale earned his first win of the year. The four-year-old son of Artsplace paced in 2:02.2, turning back challenges from S T Cammie and Dream Of Riches.

Racing resumes Saturday at Saint John's Exhibition Park, with post time at 1:00 p.m.
Fredericton is slated to go postward next Thursday at 7 p.m.
