Harries Wins May Zoom Contest

Congratulations to Diane Harries-Hennessy of Falun, Alberta, for winning the Fan Club’s May Zoom Photography Challenge featuring the Mares & Foals theme.

Diane’s winning shot is of mare, Great Desire and her colt who is affectionally known around the barn as 'Bullwinkle'.

Great Desire is a Real Desire sired mare out of Gray Lady Gray. Prior to retiring to the broodmare ranks, Great Desire was trained by Michelle Danroth and raced in Alberta.

“When Michelle decided to retire her, she called me knowing that I had admired her gray mare while she raced and wondered if I would like her as a broodmare. I had no hesitation taking her up on that offer!”

Bullwinkle is sired by JK Royal Flush, who stands stud at a farm that Diane shares with her husband, longtime horseman Rod Hennessy.

“When Great Desire gave birth, we were there to assist and my iPhone is always close by,” explained Diane, “When Rod moved her baby around to her front as she rested, she laid her head across his body and I just felt like it was a tender embrace and took a whole bunch of photos. She has been an excellent mother so the bond between them has been a close one.”

This is the first Zoom Photography Challenge that Diane has won. For winning she will receive a $50 Fan Club prize package.

We would also like to thank our other Zoom finalists:
