Equine Influenza Reported In Quebec

The Equine Disease Communication Center has reported multiple positive and suspected cases of Equine Influenza at six stables in Quebec.

All six recently reported Equine Influenza affected stables in Quebec are epidemiologically linked to two racing events. The confirmed and suspected cases have been placed in voluntary quarantine.

One confirmed and 13 suspected cases of Equine influenza were reported on May 30 at a stable in Pierre-de-Saurel, Que. The confirmed horse tested was also positive for Strep. equi ssp zooepidemicus.

One confirmed and nine suspected cases of Equine influenza were reported on May 31 at a stable in Bécancour, Que.

Twelve horses at a stable in Joliette, Que. were exposed to Equine Influenza.

One horse was confirmed positive for Equine Influenza and seven additional horses suspected at a stable in Les Maskoutains, Que.

A stable in Pierre-de-Saurel. Que. with 24 Standardbred racing horses and Quarter Horse pleasure riding horses was exposed to Equine Influenza.

A stable in the region of Trois-Rivières, Que. was exposed to Equine Influenza.
