It is with deep regrets that the family of Bruce and Shirley Cummings announce their recent passing.

Longtime horseman Bruce Cummings passed away on Friday, June 2, 2023 at the Oak Ridges Hospice in Port Perry, Ont., at the age of 87. He was predeceased by his wife Shirley Rose Cummings (nee Larocque), who passed away peacefully on March 13, 2023 at the Oak Ridges Hospice, after a short illness, at age 89.

He bought his first racehorse in 1964 and retired from racing in 2014 due to health issues. He was a past director of the Ontario Harness Horse Association for Kawartha Downs and was inducted into the Scugog Sports Hall of Fame in 2017 as Pioneer of Sport. Shirley was a Standardbred owner and often attended the racetrack with Bruce on race days.
