Eight trotting mares were nominated to the 2013 Erwin Andrew Memorial on May 15, 2013. The race conditions for this event state that the stakes' sponsors reserve the right to call off the event if fewer than 12 nominations are received. In order to avoid cancellation of the event, the nomination date has been extended to Tuesday, July 2, 2013.
This change has recently been approved by the stakes' sponsors, Meridian Farms and Standardbred Canada, as well as the Maritime Provinces Harness Racing Commission.
The race dates will remain the same as previously scheduled:
- Leg #1 - Sunday, July 28, 2013 at Summerside
- Leg #2 - Saturday, August 10, 2013 at Charlottetown
- Final - Saturday, August 17, 2013 at Charlottetown
For those owners that have already nominated their aged trotting mare(s) on May 15, 2013 you have the option to:
- Keep your mare(s) eligible to the event or;
- Opt out of the event and receive a refund of $100 per mare that was paid.
Please inform Caren Brown-Stockwell in the SC Stakes Department at 905-858-3060 (Ext. 258) or email at [email protected] by 4:00 p.m. (EDT) on Tuesday, July 2, 2013 if you wish to opt out of the event and receive a refund of $100 per mare.
If, by July 2, the Stakes Department does not hear back from an owner that nominated a mare on May 15, it will be assumed that the mare will remain in the Erwin Andrew Memorial.

Envelopes must be clearly post-marked by your post office on or before Tuesday, July 2, 2013. Envelopes post-marked after the due date will not be accepted, despite inadequacies of the postal system.
