On Tuesday, June 30, the Ontario Racing Commission released its rulings in regard to appeals from trainers Rene Allard and Jeffrey Bamond.

In regard to Allard, the ruling was in relation to a ‘redetermination of penalty.’ The ORC’s ruling explains that, at a hearing on January 13, 2015, the Ontario Divisional Court had granted the application by Allard for judicial review and set aside the penalty assessed in COM RULING NUMBER 025/2013. The issue of penalty was referred back to the ORC for re-determination.

In its ruling, the ORC accepted the joint penalty submitted by counsel of both the Appellant and the Administration in the amount of $300. A transcript with the panel’s oral Reasons for Decision can be read here.

In regard to Bamond, he had appealed against Ruling Number SB 46072 for violation of Rule 22.09 of the Rules of Standardbred Racing, during Race 10 at Mohawk Racetrack on June 13, 2015.

In its ruling, the ORC denied Bamond’s appeal and upheld the decision of the judges. A transcript with the panel’s oral Reasons for Decision can be read here.
