Another leg of the Graduate Series will highlight Saturday’s card of racing at The Meadowlands, and if Mother Nature does her part the teletimer figures to take a beating.
Beads unleashed a vicious victory in 1:50.2 in the opening leg of the Graduate Series on May 22, and he figures to be the one to beat in his fourth race assignment this weekend. The four-year-old son of Archangel will depart from Post 3 in his $50,000 assignment for the tandem of driver David Miller and trainer Per Engblom.
Hypnotic AM, who is 0-for-2 to start the season, was a fast-closing runner-up to Its Academic in leg one of the Graduate Series. He’ll line-up right beside Beads from Post 2 in Saturday’s opening division. Brian Sears, who came up just a head short with the mare in her latest outing, gets the call once again behind the Marcus Melander trainee.
The second division for the trotters appears to be a wide-open affair that features leg one winner Its Academic. The four-year-old son of Uncle Peter was a 1:51.1 winner in his Graduate assignment on May 22 for driver Yannick Gingras and trainer Ron Burke. He wasn’t as fortunate in the Maxie Lee in his latest after parking every step of the way en route to a fourth-place finish.
Ready For Moni was ultra-impressive in his 2021 debut winning in 1:51.1 against conditioned foes at The Meadowlands on May 22. The Nancy Takter trainee rallied from out of the clouds that night to equal his lifetime mark with driver Yannick Gingras in tow.
Poseidon Seelster has a win and a second-place finish in the first two legs of the Graduate Series, and he’ll look to keep the ball rolling as he takes on six other foes in the first division for male pacers. George Brennan, who piloted the Nik Drennan pupil to a 1:47.4 triumph on May 15 in the series, will depart from Post 5 with the four-year-old son of Sunshine Beach.
Warrawee Vital, who came up a nose short of holding off Poseidon Seelster in that 1:47.4 effort, will look to turn the tables on his arch rival. Tim Tetrick will sit behind the Ron Coyne, Jr. student who is set to start from Post 2.
Ruthless Hanover, who is 2-for-2 in the Graduate Series this season, headlines the second division for the male pacers. Andrew McCarthy guided the Tom Cancelliere trainee to 1:48.4 and 1:48 scores to kick off his season, and the son of Somebeachsomewhere will start from the pole position in his quest for the Graduate Series threepeat.
Cattlewash, who was one of last year’s exciting sophomores, makes his four-year-old debut after a set of qualifiers for trainer Ron Burke and driver David Miller. The son of Somebeachsomewhere, who went 6-for-17 last season, will start from Post 7.
