Tioga Downs will feature the Geers Stakes for sophomore pacers this Friday (June 28).
The first of the Geers splits will be for three-year-old colts and geldings. World On Edge has recorded a win, two second-place finishes and two thirds thus far this season. Warrawee Unique has recorded a win this season, and, overall, he has notched two career victories (he took his 1:50.2 mark last season as a freshman).
The second Geers split is for three-year-old fillies, and the Chris Ryder-trained Abigail Dawn (Mark MacDonald) has been installed as the 9-5 morning line favourite. The Real Artist filly has recorded four wins from eight starts thus far this year. The second morning line selection, at 5-2, is Alii Nui (Marcus Miller). The Erv Miller-trained filly by Captaintreacherous has recorded four wins from eight starts this season.
The third Geers split, which is also for fillies, has seen the 2-1 morning line favouritism allotted to Rose Run Uptowngal. The Ron Burke-trained Dragon Again filly has reached the winner’s circle in three of her eight starts this season.
Tioga’s 10-race Friday card will start at 6:15 p.m.
