Published: June 27, 2019 03:53 pm EDT

This weekend, the focus at Hippodrome 3R will be on a series on Preferred races, the top non-stakes class, which will feature no fewer than 19 Quebec Plus Series horses looking to maintain or gain sharp racing form.

The Quebec Plus Series for province-bred older horses will be taking a week off before its final preliminary round next weekend and its $30,000 championship races on Sunday, July 14.

Two of the winners from Quebec Plus action for trotting mares, Kascara Rosa and Eau Naturelle, will be at opposite ends of the starting gate for Friday’s $5,000 Preferred feature – Kascara Rose from Post 1 and Eau Naturelle from Post 6. Also in the field is Lagerfeld, whose 1:58.2 victory at H3R on May 26 stands as the co-fastest trot of the year at the Quebec oval. Lagerfeld will start from Post 3. The early favourite will start just to Lagerfeld’s inside. Holiday Party, the early favourite in question, has recorded a win at H3R’s top level this year. Holiday Party also finished third against males in the first Quebec Plus preliminary before making an uncharacteristic break in stride in his last race.

The ten-race Friday card, which will kick off at 7 p.m., will also feature a Preferred event for second-level trotters and a Preferred for pacing mares. To view the entries for the Friday card, click here.

On Sunday, the top race on H3R’s nine-race card will be the $6,000 Preferred Pace (Race 4). Five of the six horses in the field have already won in 1:56 or faster this year over H3R. Th early favourite in the race is Saulsbrook Peach, who will start from Post 4. H3R’s Sunday afternoon card will kick off at 1 p.m. To view the entries for the Sunday card, click here.
