The third annual Horse Name Costume Game returns to Grand River Raceway on Friday, June 29 and with $500 in prizes, it’s never been so cool to wear a costume in June.
It’s free to play and fun for the whole family, with prizes for kids (15 and under) and adults.
The object of the game is to dress up in the likeness of a name of a horse racing on June 29 at Grand River Raceway. With a total of 106 horses competing in 12 races on Friday, there are lots of great names to choose from. Simply select one from the list below or visit the Grand River Raceway website to see a complete list of entries for Friday.
Some of the best costumes in the past have used household objects in interesting ways, or have employed extremely creative angles on the horse’s name. Think outside the box and use what you have at home to fashion your outfit for the contest.
On the evening of Friday, June 29, register in the main lobby at Grand River Raceway from 6:45 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Contest participants will gather beside the racetrack for the costume parade following race six, and present their creations in front of a panel of three judges. The judges will score each entry and select the best based on creativity, effort and presentation.
The top five adults will win the following prizes: 1st= $250, 2nd = $100, 3rd = $50, 4th = $25, 5th = $15. The top three kids will all be awarded $20.
