Trot Insider has learned that horse owner Richard Pugliese of Sturgeon County, Alberta passed away suddenly in the early-morning hours of Sunday, June 24 at the age of 64.

Pugliese, an owner and friend of Keith Clark, was involved in the horse business for more than 40 years.

A few years back, Pugliese bought a horse named Peace Of Work as a Christmas present for his partner, Sandy Badry, and the gelded son of Village Jiffy went on to win 21 races during a two-year span.

Pugliese always joked with Sandy that if anything happened, her next horse would be a stakes horse no matter what.

Richard will be missed by his partner, Sandy; his son, Rick; his 92-year-old mother, Ann; his business partner, 'Bill' and many, many friends and co-workers connected to hockey, baseball and the oil business.

A funeral for Richard will take place Friday, June 29 at 1:00 p.m. at North Point Community Church, located at 14025 167 Avenue in Edmonton, Alberta.

Please join Standardbred Canada in offering condolences to the family and friends of Richard Pugliese.
