In conjunction with the New York Sire Stakes, Yonkers Raceway has announced a $400,000 evening just for New York-breds this coming October.
The date, Saturday, October 17, will feature eight $50,000 events for state-bred two and three-year-olds of both sexes and gaits.
The events are open to horses which did not race -- or were not eligible -- to the September 26 Night of Champions. Each class is to be filled with remaining eligibles from the 2009 New York Sire Stakes point standings, with horses eligible in descending point order. Eligibles shall be determined by the New York Sire Stakes.
Each race would be limited to eight starters, with no more than two entries from one owner or trainer. Races are to conducted under rules of the New York State Racing and Wagering Board, the New York Sire Stakes and Yonkers Raceway.
There will be no nominating fee and no starting fee, but there will be a $10 entry fee -- payee Yonkers Raceway -- per horse. Entry for this event is scheduled to close Tuesday, October 13 at 4:00 p.m. (ET) (date and time subject to change).
