Yonkers To Debut Down Under

For decades, some of the best Down Under harness horses have made Yonkers Raceway their adopted home. But Thursday night offers a bit of role reversal, with Yonkers Raceway beginning simulcasting of its signal to Australia.

The final eight races (four through 11) on the card will be offered to the Aussies Thursday night, with Thursdays being the night of choice at the outset. The plan is to add Saturdays nights to the new market once the Meadowlands concludes its racing season. Wagering is conducted using a separate pool, though co-mingling is on the horizon.

"We welcome harness fans in Australia, and look forward to seeing how well our product is received," general manager Bob Galterio said.

The Raceway continues its normal five-night-per-week live schedule, with first post every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 7:10 p.m. Evening simulcasting accompanies all live programs, with afternoon simulcasting available around the NYRA schedule.
