The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) issued a notice to the horse racing industry on the Friday, May 29 regarding changes to in-person licensing services at select Standardbred racetracks.
The AGCO stated it is continuing to modernize horse racing licensing services to provide consistent, reliable and accessible service to licensees across Ontario. Since 2020, horse racing licensing services have been delivered through the iAGCO online portal. Building on this established approach, in-person licensing services at select Standardbred racetracks will no longer be offered.
The AGCO recognizes that some horsepeople value in-person service and will continue offering in-person licensing services at its most frequently used licensing offices.
What this means for you
- Effective this season, in‑person licensing services will no longer be offered at the following Standardbred racetracks: Clinton Raceway, Georgian Downs, Hanover Raceway, Kawartha Downs and The Raceway at Western Fair District.
- All licensing services continue to be available anytime through iAGCO or in-person at all other AGCO licensing offices.
- Horsepersons are responsible for holding a valid licence before participating in racing activities. Ahead of race day, log in to your iAGCO account or contact AGCO Customer Service for support. Note: It may take up to seven business days for your licence to be processed.
- Renew your licence in iAGCO if your licence has expired within the last five years.
- Apply for a new licence if you’ve never had an AGCO racing licence or you are renewing a licence that expired more than five years ago. You will first need to set up an iAGCO account.
