With loved ones by his side, longtime Standardbred Canada employee and industry participant Jeff Renton passed away on June 11, 2021 at the age of 43 after a courageous battle with cancer.
His battle showed his strength in facing life and its challenges head on with a positive attitude until the end. Jeff was a loving husband, father, son, brother and friend.
After working in the media department at Woodbine Entertainment, Jeff joined the SC team in 2006 and served as the Website News Editor in the Communications Department for 15 years. Through Jeff's time with the association, he made many valuable contributions that have helped shape the current SC website and its communication strategy in ways that have made the association better.
We will miss his sense of humour, ability to analyze situations and provide insight, and competently handle the complex and diverse nature of Standardbred industry news. His loss to our team, this industry and our lives is immeasurable.
Jeff is survived by his wife, Tara; son, Warner; sisters, Amy and Lisa; mother, Judith; mother-in-law, Heather; brother-in-law, James; father-in-law, Peter; uncle, Bob; aunt, Jane and cousins. he was preceded in death by his father, Robert J. Renton.
His family and friends alike will always remember his loving character, his beautiful smile, his love for music and his infamous, “What’s Up?” intros.
Forever loved.
Forever missed.
Forever connected.
May you rest in peace.
Until we meet again.
No funeral services will be held at this time.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate a donation to the Juravinski Hospital and Cancer Centre in Jeff's memory.
Please join Standardbred Canada in offering condolences to the family and friends of Jeff Renton.
One of the greatest friends
One of the greatest friends and linemates a guy could ever ask for. The shop discussions, life musings, all of it — gonna miss him immensely; already do.
Cheers, Renton. Until we meet again. :'(
This is a horrible shock. I
This is a horrible shock. I did not ever meet or deal with Jeff but have known of him for many years. That is way too young to depart this earth. I wish to extend my deepest sympathy to all of his family and friends. I can only imagine what a wonderful human being he was.
My condolences to the Renton
