On Saturday, June 20, top-ranked eaters from around the United States will take their place at the competition table for the first ever World Pork Roll Eating Championship at Meadowlands Racing & Entertainment.
The New Jersey pre-lunch staple will make its Major League Eating debut at The Backyard beginning at 8:15 p.m. Pork lovers and non-pork lovers alike will head to the Meadowlands to get a taste of the action during an evening of live harness racing.
The inaugural Pork Roll-Eating Championship will host a table of seasoned eaters. The competitors will include #3-ranked eater Tim ‘Eater X’ Janus of New York, who currently holds the title of Tamale-Eating World Champion by eating 71 tamales in 12 minutes and the Tiramisu-Eating World Champion by eating four pounds of tiramisu in just six minutes. Other eaters on the roster include #6-ranked Erik ‘The Red’ Denmark of Washington, #9-ranked ‘The Lovely’ Juliet Lee of Maryland, #13-ranked Badlands Booker of New York, #15-ranked Yasir Salem of New York and the #31-ranked Larell Marie Mele of Pennsylvania.
The competitive eaters will have 10 minutes to eat as many half-pound pork rolls as possible to win their share of the $4,000 cash prize and the title of World Pork Roll-Eating Champion. The evening will kick off with introductions at 8:15 p.m. before the contest at 8:52 p.m. First prize is $2,000, first runner-up will be awarded $1,000, second runner-up will be awarded $600, third runner-up receives $300 and fourth runner-up wins $100.
Live harness racing will commence at 7:15 p.m.
