Live weeknight harness racing will return to Truro Raceway this evening (Thursday, June 18) and officials at the half-mile oval have commented on the decision to add live weeknight programs.

“We thought we’d try Thursday nights because maybe Sunday afternoons are inconvenient to some people,” Nova Scotia Provincial Exhibition General Manager Steve Pottie has said. “If we can create something for people to bring more of a crowd in here, that would be great.”

Pottie’s comments have come via a Truro Daily News article by Ryan Cooke.

Truro’s eight-dash Thursday card is set to kick off with a 7 p.m. first-race post time. The track’s race office supervisor, Diane Daniels, told Cooke that she can’t remember the last time the track hosted regular weeknight racing.

“It’s great for the people around here,” said Daniels, who added that “Everyone is really excited about it.”
