Louie Fernandez, a six-year-old pacer owned by Wendell and Robbie Shaw of Summerside, moves in to the top class Wednesday at Red Shores Summerside. Post time for the 12-dash card is 7:00 p.m.
The Wendell Shaw-trained pupil has five top-three finishes out of 10 starts this season and tangles with other top guns Rich Raider and Courtside in Race 11. Fans can view the card by visiting redshores.ca.
New racing analyst Jarred Stretch is a Louie Fernandez believer, but gives Courtside a slight advantage in the $1,400 feature.
"He gets a little class relief and he's been known to pull out a stunner when you least expect it," said Stretch. "He's had huge success on this track and will look to add to his Summerside resume."
Chester The Name, driven by Brodie MacPhee, is also a threat after posting a 1:58.3 second place finish back on May 14. The Son of Yankee Leader, owned by Carl MacDougall of Ellerslie, PEI, leaves from post eight. The field also includes Darling Jane, OK Chivas, Canaco Paso and Gauloise Duharas.
Race fans will be treated to a number of promotions on the live event. Red Shores Summerside gives fans opportunities to qualify in the new $10,000 Big Spin Big Win event when they spend $10 or more on a single bet. The Summerside Lobster Carnival Committee is presenting the Lucky the Lobster contest where fans take their community ballots back to Red Shores for a minimum purchase to qualify to win $5,000 on Governor's Plate night.
The Wild Horses promotion has hit four times this season. Red Shores Summerside has crowned a pair of $500 jackpot winners on the race promotion this season. The Instant Pik ticket returns on the Wednesday program.
