Mohawk Racetrack will once again host its Reach For The Rainbow Night tonight with several of the local drivers and trainers donating a portion of their earnings to the
organization.
A charitable organization since 1987, Reach for the Rainbow develops and facilitates integrated recreational opportunities for children and young adults with physical and developmental disabilities. The opportunities come via organized partner summer camps and year-round programs across Ontario.
The organization provides an essential respite service to families and care givers, in-take
assessments, one-on-one support counselors, training to meet the individual needs of each participant, accessible transportation and the loan of special adaptive equipment.
Local horsemen Mike Saftic helped organize the event last season with the help of longtime friends Don and Lisa Weaver, whose daughter Sydney attends the camp.
Tackmaster will donate a cooler to be given out this evening during a trackside presentation.
