Reminder: Race-Day Vet Access To Horses

On Wednesday (June 12), the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario issued an industry notice reminding horsepeople of the clarification regarding veterinarian access to horses on race day.

In response to questions received from the industry, the (AGCO) wishes to clarify that routine diagnostic veterinary examinations of racehorses are allowed within the 24-hour period prior to racing, provided no medications, drugs or substances are administered.

En réponse aux questions reçues de l’industrie, la Commission des alcools et des jeux de l’Ontario (CAJO) souhaite préciser que les examens vétérinaires diagnostiques de routine des chevaux de course sont permis dans les 24 heures précédant une course, à condition qu’aucun médicament, aucune drogue ni aucune substance ne soient administrés.
