This Saturday (June 16), camels and ostriches will thunder down the stretch at the Meadowlands Racetrack for the seventh annual Cameltonian & Ostrich Derby.
Admission and parking are free for the event.
The much-anticipated camel and ostrich races will take place during the program of live harness racing. Fans will watch the ostriches when they battle it out after Race 3 (with an approximate post time of 8:05 p.m.) and the camels will take their marks after Race 8 (with an approximate post time of 9:50 p.m.).

The best seat in the house may be the track’s Victory Terrace. The Terrace features great views of the racing action and the NYC skyline along with a DJ, bar and grill.
Live harness racing will commence at 7:15 p.m., and fans can test their luck in ‘Horseplay.’ Pick up a free horse and throw the horse into the car for a chance to win $100 and entry into the August 3 car drawing for a 2018 Toyota Corolla. For every horse that makes it into the target car, Meadowlands Racing & Entertainment will donate $10 to the Bergen County Horse Rescue.
