Yonkers Raceway’ Pick 5 guarantee went into effect Monday night.
As part of the U.S. Trotting Association’s Strategic Wagering Program and with the approval of the New York State Gaming Commission, a minimum $10,000 pot is available every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evening.
The pool total—$13,685—easily eclipsed that number, despite the races contested with limited visibility due to persistent wind, rain and fog.
The phrase that pays was 5/4/6/7/8, returning $446,25 for every correct half-a-buck wager.
The Pick 5 is a 50-cent base wager comprising either races 6 through 10 (10-race card) or 7 through 11 (more than 10-race card). It has no consolation payoff.
Monday was also a season-high Superfecta in the overflow-field eighth race, with a combination of 4/5/10/7 paying $62,450 (base $2 payout, 10-cent ticket worth $3,122.50).
