Yonkers Raceway has announced an across-the-the-board purse increase and some condition changes, beginning with next week’s sheet.
The hike raises the overnight purse range from $8,500 (for non-winners of $5,000 last five starts and/or $12,500 claimers) to $45,000 (weekly Opens/Open Handicaps). The current structure is $8,000 to $40,000.
As far as conditioned races, the new non-winner ‘limits’ (all in five last five starts) appear below.
• $5,000 (winners over $20,000 in 2016 not eligible)
• $7,500 (w/o $37,500 n/e, optional $15,000 claimer)
• $10,000 (w/o $50,000 n/e, optional $20,000 claimer)
• $15,000 (w/o $75,000 n/e, optional $30,000 claimer)
• $20,000
• $25,000
The race office may tweak these (or any) conditions as necessary.
