The Raceway at the Western Fair District is busy putting together plans for this year’s Molson Pace night, which will take place on Friday, May 31.
This year’s race will be contested as a $150,000 Invitational Pace and features a new twist --- a Molson Pace ‘Win And You’re In’ Prep the week before, on Friday, May 24.
The winner of the prep will receive an automatic spot in the Molson Pace the following week. Also on Prep Night, driver Trevor Henry will officially be presented with his Canadian Colours as this year’s representative at the World Driving Championship later this summer in France.
In honour of two-time defending champion Foiled Again, commemorative mugs with the pacer’s image on it will be given away on Molson Pace night at customer service (while supplies last). In addition, several lucky patrons will find a mystery voucher in their program that night, ranging from $2 to $50 in value.
The night will also include a Molson ‘Party on the Patio’ with the Molson Xtreme team on hand to meet and greet fans and a Molson ‘Fan of the Night’ prize giveaway. The raceway’s foodmobile will be on site offering plenty of wonderful food and beverage items and an after party will be hosted in the Progress building featuring live local entertainment.
Fans can also play along in a special Molson Pace edition of the Pick-10 for a Grand contest with a $1,000 top prize. If no one correctly selects all 10, a special $500 consolation prize will be given out to the fan that selects the most winners on the card. There will also be a special edition of Deal or no Deal that night with a $200 betting voucher up for grabs.
On the wagering side, the 12-race program will feature a pair of Guaranteed-pool Pick-4 wagers (early at $5,000 and late at $10,000). There will also be two Super Hi-5 wagers offered --- an early one in Race 7, featuring a nine-horse field and seeded pool of $3,500, and a late one on the Molson Pace which will be carded as the last race on the program.
