Carnivore and driver Walter Cheverie have been established as the race favorites in the featured event Saturday at Red Shores Racetrack & Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
First race post time for the 12-dash card is 6:00 p.m. The top class will be called to the starting gate at 8:51 PM AST with Carnivore lining up from post 5. The Marvyn Webster trainee blasted off cover last week with a :28 closer to secure the victory. Runner-up Tempo Seelster, with Vince Poulton in the bike, will leave from post 3 while another Poulton stable star Cabo Pan Lucas gets the rail for driver Danny MacDonald, trainer Gary Poulton and his co-owner Alan Walker of Charlottetown.
The race also stars Outside The Wire, who completed the triactor in his last outing for Jason Hughes, and JRs Hurricane (Gary Chappell) who had a fourth place finish on his chart line. Two newcomers from the Edward Harvey stable ship in to compete in the top level. Harvey will handle Darth Bader while Steven Shepherd gets the call to drive American Terror.
Motorino makes his first start in race 7 after two impressive qualifiers for Terry Gallant and his co-owner Eric Johnston of Summerside. The four-year-old could start his spring meet where he ended in the winter meet -- in the winner’s circle. Lyndale Royal (Marc Campbell) and Van Zant (Ron Matheson) are also listed as triactor candidates.
Fightmaster makes his Island debut after competing on the Ontario racing circuit. Mike McGuigan will drive the colt for his co-owner Jack Quinn in race 3.
Customers have a long line of new promotions including the Super High 5, Pik 3 and Pik 4. On-track players will be offered the Pick 5, Wild Horses tags on races 2-12 with jackpots and Set for Summer promo where customers have a chance to qualify to win weekly prizes with the grand prize of $1,000 a week for 10 weeks being drawn on the first day of summer June 21, 2015.
