Management at Grand River Raceway has announced that its newly expanded racing surface will be open for training starting this Thursday, May 9.
The Elora, Ont. raceway’s reconfiguration project began in August 2023 and the former half-mile racing surface was transformed into a five-eighths-of-a-mile track.
The new track will be open for training on Thursday from 8 a.m. to 12 noon. Track management advises horsepeople to take caution when entering and exiting the track as there is still ongoing construction onsite with trucks working around outside of the track.
Regular training days will be Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 12 noon for the entire racing season. All horses must vacate the paddock by 1 p.m.
The 2024 harness racing season is scheduled to begin on June 5.
