Due to the poor economic climate, Fraser Downs Racetrack & Casino and the B.C. Standardbred Association (BCSA) has announced it will not conduct live racing
at Sandown Park in 2009.
“We are disappointed that the economic downturn has forced us to cancel racing at Sandown this season,” said Howard Blank, Vice President of Media and Entertainment for Great Canadian Gaming Corporation, operator of both Fraser Downs and Sandown Park. “We will re-assess the situation with the BCSA next year, and hope to again provide the loyal fans at Sandown with live racing in 2010.”
Fraser Downs and the BCSA staged three days of live racing at Sandown Park in 2008. Simulcast racing continues to be available at the facility.
