Longtime harness racing industry participant Douglas Grant 'Doug' Beckett of Keady, Ont. passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by the love of his family, on Tuesday, May 28 at the age of 67.
Dearly loved husband and best friend of Donna Beckett (nee Kuhl) for 43 years. Loving father of Michael Beckett, of Keady, Nancy Stewart (Matt), of Owen Sound, Alan Beckett (Jessica), of London, Paul Beckett (Krysti), of Cambridge, Cheryl McCallum (Pete), of Chatsworth and Lyle Beckett (Brittany), of Keady. Proud grandfather of Summer, Taya, Roman, Lena and Conlee. Cherished son of Eileen Beckett, of Owen Sound and the late Kenneth Beckett. Dear brother of Kaye Holmes (Jim) and Ross Beckett (Lois), both of Keady and brother-in-law of Lorna Kingston (Jim), Barb Schwartz (Herb), Marlene King (Bill), Jerry Funck (June), Darlene Somers, Sandy Weatherall (Eric), Lois Gamble (Ian), Janice Klages (John) and Marohl Kuhl (Diane). Doug will be sadly missed by his many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Predeceased by his parents-in-law, Ernie Kuhl and Anne Ahrens (1959) and Gertrude Marohl (2011); his brother-in-law, Ross Teschke; his brother-in-Christ, Reg Gobert; his nephews, Christopher Beckett, Justin Kuhl, Joe Somers and Josh Holmes.
Friends may call at the Brian E. Wood Funeral Home, 250 - 14th Street, West, Owen Sound, Ontario N4K 3X8 (519-376-7492) on Saturday (June 1) from 2:00 - 4:00 and 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. A funeral service for Doug Beckett will be held at the Faith Lutheran Church, 136167 Concession Road 8, Desboro on Sunday, June 2, 2019 at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Brian Dunlop officiating. Interment in Faith Lutheran Church Cemetery, Desboro. Following the interment, lunch and fellowship will be held at the Keady Community Centre from 2:30 - 4:30 p.m.
