Jack Bernard McDonnell passed away peacefully at the age of 82 at home on Monday, May 27, 2024 under the loving care of his partner Carolyn.
Predeceased by his parents, Gordon Gilchrist and Bertille (Heitzner) McDonnell of Brechin, Ont. Jack is survived by his partner, Carolyn Jarrell, and children, Lisa (Steve), Pam (Rob), Janet (Richard) and Joanne (Karl).
Jack was a 35-year service member of the Belleville Agricultural Fair Board Committee and the General Manager for Standardbred harness racing at the Quinte Exhibition and Raceway from the 1980s until 2006.
The family welcomes donations to the Ontario Standardbred Adoption Society (OSAS) as an expression of sympathy instead of flowers. As a charitable organization, OSAS will issue tax receipts for all applicable donations.
The Celebration of Life of Jack McDonnell will be held at the Dugout, 540 Dundas Street East, Belleville, Ont. on June 22, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. EST.
