The connections of multiple stakes winner Rockin Mystery have reported that the 10-year-old broodmare was euthanized on May 14, 2026 after suffering a devastating infection that had caused her to lose her third foal.
Owned by Blair Miller of Langley, B.C., along with Surdale Farms Ltd. of Kelowna, B.C. since her retirement from racing, and formerly by trainer Rod Therres of Langley, B.C., Rockin Mystery earned $366,269 lifetime competing mostly in Alberta and British Columbia and was the winner of the 2019 Don Byrne Memorial in lifetime best of 1:52.2 at Century Mile.
Her stakes victories also included a division of the Jim Rogers Memorial at two and an elimination and the final of the Shirley McClellan Breeders Stakes at three. Among her Alberta Sires Stakes shining moments, she was the Super Final freshman filly champion.
As an aged mare, she won the Lady Cloverdale and multiple Open events before retiring from the racetrack in 2022 with 21 wins, 18 seconds and 14 thirds from 88 starts.
The daughter of Mystery Chase-Cant Stop Rockin was trained by Therres and Chris Lancaster for the majority of her racing career.
Rockin Mystery's first foal, Rockin Buddy, a three-year-old Shadow Play gelding who sold for $58,000 at the 2024 ASHA Yearling Sale, has finally started his career after the 2025 stakes season for B.C. breds was obliterated by the sudden closure of Fraser Downs. Rockin Buddy was a hard-closing third in a Century Downs maiden race this past Friday night. Rockin Mystery's second foal, Disturbingthepeace, is an Alberta-bred yearling colt by Vertical Horizon destined for the 2026 ASHA Yearling Sale this fall.
Please join Standardbred Canada in offering condolences to the connections of Rockin Mystery.
