Dr. Roly Armitage, a member of the Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Fame and past president of the CTA/CSHS, has announced that a pair of his books, ‘The Way It Was and Now’ and ‘Now, About Yesterday,’ are available for purchase at the offices of COSA and OHHA, and are also available on amazon.ca.
‘The Way It Was and Now,’ which was released in the summer of 2014, contains a series of vignettes about Dr. Armitage’s life, which has spanned from the early 1900s to present day. One can almost imagine sitting across the table from Dr. Armitage as he spins tale after tale. The depression years, World War II, and then earning his degrees as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine and a Veterinary Surgeon provided the background that launched him into many careers.
“I was always thought of as a bit of story teller and so many people said, ‘Roly, you should write a book!’ I’m retired and I’m healthy and I thought this might be as good a time as any,” Dr. Armitage told Trot Insider in 2014. “I’ve enjoyed writing [‘The Way It Was and Now’] and I think that anybody reading it will enjoy it.”
‘Now, About Yesterday’ is a sequel to ‘The Way it Was and Now.’ In it, Dr. Armitage shared more of his memories and tells it the way it was. While reading, you may find yourself becoming nostalgic while at the same time laughing aloud.
