There are new events popping up around Hoosier Park Racing & Casino this year and many of which are available for the entire family. The month of May will be an exciting one for all, so be sure to get in on the action

Not only is Monday, May 30 the Memorial Day Celebration with a special day of racing beginning at 5:30 p.m., but this will also be a day tailored for kids during racing. There will be plenty for all in the family to do prior to watching the races. Several events will take a hands-on approach for the crowd. A few of the activities that will be offered are demonstrations by the Harness Horse Youth Foundation, various interactive games for all to enjoy, the introduction of Hoosier Park’s adopted horse, Lilly, from CSC Farms in Hartford City, Indiana, and even some live entertainment. The special activities will also include the Fiery BBQ Pit. All events are set to take place outside in the Yard.
While out for the special Memorial Day racing program, be sure to be on the lookout for Hoosier Park’s famous horse friend, Hoosier Buddy! As always, Hoosier Buddy will be frolicking around the grounds ready to “horse around” and cause the crowd to laugh.
Another special event starting on Memorial Day is Charity Chariots. Come out between 3:30 and 4:30 p.m. and take a ride around the track with your favourite celebrity standardbred driver for a fee of $20, which will go to that driver’s charity. Following Memorial Day, you can come out every Saturday in June to ride alongside the drivers in Charity Chariots from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Registration begins at 3 p.m. and is open to guests 12 years of age and older. However, all riders under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult and will need to sign a waiver prior to the ride. The drivers always look forward to meeting fans and taking them for a spin around the track on a double seated jog cart behind a real racehorse.
