The Raceway at Western Fair District’s biggest race of the season, the Molson Pace, is slated for Friday, May 30, and will once again be raced an Invitational event with a purse of $150,000 up for grabs.

Racing’s richest pacer, Foiled Again, will be back making his sixth appearance. He was a winner of both the 2011 and 2012 editions. Fans in attendance this year will receive a commemorative Foiled Again post card with program purchase.

Title sponsor Molson Coors will be ramping up their presence, featuring the Molson Event Team on site along with the Molson ‘Party on the Patio.’

“We’ve worked hard each year to grow this race and make the entire night a fun event,” said Racing Manager Greg Blanchard. “It’s great to have a champion like Foiled Again back. There are a lot of nice horses on our radar, so it could be one of the deepest fields ever. We’ll have a strong undercard as well and plenty of good wagering opportunities, so there will be something for everyone that night.”

On the wagering side, the Molson Pace program will feature a $7,500 guaranteed pool on the early Pick 4 and a $10,000 guarantee on the late Pick 4, which will be anchored by the Molson Pace. There will also be a $10,000 guaranteed Super Hi 5.

There will also be a Grand Prize draw of a VIP package for eight people to this summer’s Beer and Barbecue Show at The Western Fair District and a Pepsi North America Cup VIP package, sponsored by Horseplayer Interactive.

A quartet of City of London Series finals will also be contested on the Molson Pace undercard. A total of 138 trotters and pacers have nominated to this year’s series at The Raceway. The event is open to Ontario-sired four-year-olds and younger who are non-winners of $10,000 lifetime as of April 1, 2014.

The horse and gelding pace produced the largest number of nominations with the connections of 45 horses opting to ante up the $200 nomination fee. The pacing eliminations will take place on May 20 while the trotting eliminations will go postward on May 23.
