Officials with the Atlantic Provinces Harness Racing Commission have released information in regard to the 12th annual Stretch Drive Benevolent Fund Golf Tournament.
The tournament will take place at Fox Meadow Golf Club in Stratford, PE on Wednesday, August 14. There will be a shotgun start at 8:00 a.m. The golf club is located just minutes away from CDPEC.
The event raises funds for individuals and families involved in the Atlantic provinces harness racing industry that have fallen on hard times for various reasons. The Stretch Drive Benevolent Fund is a project of the Atlantic Provinces Harness Racing Commission Officials and also contributes $1,000 to the Atlantic Bursary Fund, which awards scholarships each year to deserving students whose families are involved in harness racing in the Atlantic Provinces.
The tournament is limited to 24 teams at a cost of $75 per individual golfer or $300 per team of four. Interested golfers can register by contacting the APHRC at 902-836-5500 or an APHRC race official at your local track. Please register early, as this event sells out each year. Also, if your unable to attend, hole sponsorship opportunities are available and we always need support for this great initiative. Please contact the APHRC for more details.
Participants will have a chance to watch some great racing during Old Home Week, enjoy a day of golf with friends, and have an opportunity to win some valuable prizes.
To date, the fund, which is administered by the APHRC and the Senior Judges Committee, has distributed a total of more than $115,000, which has assisted more than 120 individuals throughout the Atlantic provinces.
