Racing Under Saddle Ontario is on the lookout for interested, passionate individuals to serve on its Board Committees.
Are you a person interested and committed to the development of Racing Under Saddle in Ontario? Why not serve on a board committee and provide input into RUS programs, marketing and fundraising, to name a few?
Racing Under Saddle Ontario (RUS) is seeking individuals who can bring knowledge,
connections and ideas relevant to the different Committees, to provide input and advice to the Board of Director’s on RUS product development. RUS Ontario is looking for individuals interested in participating in the following committees:
RUS Secretary
1. Is a member of RUS Ontario
2. Maintains records of the board and ensures effective management of organization's records
3. Manages minutes of board meetings
4. Ensures minutes are distributed to members shortly after each meeting
5.Is sufficiently familiar with legal documents (articles, by-laws, legal letters, etc.) to note applicability during meetings
RUS Treasurer
1. Is a member of RUS Ontario
2. Manages finances of the organization
3. Administrates fiscal matters of the organization
4. Provides annual budget to the board for members' approval
5. Ensures development and board review of financial policies and procedures
RUS Committees - Finance
Lead by the board treasurer. The finance committee which is charged with overseeing the budget, financial controls, investments and grants. An additional audit committee will be formed from this group that works with outside auditors to maintain the organization's accounting and financial reporting controls.
Fundraising
The fundraising committee will be charged to create a plan that will guide RUS Ontario in seeking out and securing funding from an array of outside sources. This committee must identify and communicate with potential donors to support the work of RUS Ontario.
Marketing/ IT
The Marketing/IT committee develops and implements a marketing and social media plan that identifies the needs of its target audience and how to meet those needs with the products, services and programs of the non-profit.
Riders
RUS Ontario is also looking for experienced riders for the upcoming racing season. Anyone who has previously ridden and interested in becoming a rider should contact RUS Ontario.
Individuals with an interest in serving on one or more of the Committees are asked to send their personal profiles to the Racing Under Saddle Ontario (RUS) by April 23, 2014. Please include a resume outlining your affiliations, experience with similar initiatives and a general profile of your role(s) within the racing industry.
Individual applicants will be considered based on their expertise in various different sectors of the industry, their applied knowledge, industry achievements and experience. Group members are expected to serve a term of two years.
"The immediate needs of Racing Under Saddle Ontario are not breed specific or horse racing centered, said Julie Walker, President, Racing Under Saddle Ontario. “I have found that industry knowledge can, and does cross over between the different breeds and equine industries. I would encourage everyone who is interested to consider their possible contribution to the development of this product in any of the three breeds or other equine disciplines. The cross-pollination of ideas within the industry often brings a fresh view to the table, and helps build a better product for all sectors."
