Tattersalls Sales Co. continues to accept entries for its annual Meadowlands Spring Mixed Sale, to be held at the sport’s flagship track on Sunday, May 7. Entries may be submitted via the sales company’s website, or by calling its New York office at (914) 773-7777.
Sale manager David Reid said this year’s Spring Mixed is being held earlier than in years past to not only provide more spacing between the spring and summer sales, but to accommodate the many horsemen who ship north from their winter bases at that time of year.
The sale will have a focus on racehorses that are three years old or older. “The racehorse shortage that we have, coupled with a high purse structure in so many jurisdictions, makes it a true seller’s market right now,” Reid said.
“Anyone who wants to cash in with a quality racehorse will have no problem getting every penny it’s worth.”
Reid said he is recommending the Summer Mixed Sale for owners and trainers planning to sell any two-year-olds in training, as by that time they will have perhaps qualified or baby raced, hence giving potential buyers a better perspective on their ability and promise.
