Arthur Goldsmith Passes

Arthur L. Goldsmith, 86, passed away on Thursday, March 23 at his home in Lakewood Ranch with his family by his side.

Born in Newark, NJ, he was preceded in death by his parents, Tillie and Sam; and his sister, Gloria (Jerry) Klein.

Goldsmith graduated from the University of Georgia, with a BS in Business Administration. He served during the Korean War as a US Army Signal Corps photographer stationed at SHAPE Headquarters in Paris, France. He returned to Summit, NJ, where he owned and operated Art's Camera until the mid-1980s when he decided to change careers, becoming an equine photographer and bloodstock agent. His photographs graced the covers and advertisements of several harness racing magazines.

Retiring to Sarasota, Fla., he pursued his love of golf and fishing.

He leaves behind his former wife and friend, Joan Raymond; sons, Steven (Lori) and Alan; daughter, Susan (Andrew) Ossanna; step-daughters, Mandy Feldmann and Ellen (Jon) Dowd; and four grandchildren.

He will be interred at the National Cemetery in Sarasota on April 12 with military honours.
