Longtime harness racing industry participant Ron MacArthur of Summerside, P.E.I. passed away at the MacLeod Care Clinton View Lodge on April 25, 2021 at the age of 87.
Born in Summerside, he was the son of the late Roland and Margaret (MacFarlane) MacArthur. Ron started out as a trainer and driver on Canada's east coast before moving stateside and racing predominantly at Rosecroft Raceway and Pompano Park. He developed horses the likes of stakes winners Matt Of The Hour and Photo Of A Lady, the dam of 2008 Goldsmith Maid winner Up Front Annika.
Survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Bernadette (Farmer) MacArthur; children Danny, Edwin, Greg, Brian, Amber, Nan and Shelley; 18 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; sister Deborah "Debbie" Bryson; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
Resting at Moase Funeral Home, Summerside. Completion of arrangements will be announced at a later date. Memorial donations to the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated.
