Updates On The Re-Allocation Of Purse Funds Program

Published: April 29, 2020 11:40 am EDT

On Wednesday, April 29, 2020, Ontario Racing (OR) issued an update in regard to the Re-Allocation of Purse Funds Program.

The Ontario Racing update communicates that the cheques for the last week of March-eligible Standardbred horses have been mailed and should be received shortly.

In addition to other items, the update states that cheques to cover April expenses are in the process of being issued. Also, the update explains that there is no need to apply for May cheques, as OR will be using information received for April.

The update also explains that a copy of your trainer’s invoice as well as proof of payment for the month of April will no longer be required for submission. Ontario Racing is requesting that trainers with owners in arrears on monthly expenses for the month of April alert Ontario Racing ([email protected]) prior to May 15.

Furthermore, the OR update -- the contents of which appear below -- briefly touches on the topics of Ontario Sires Stakes dates and an eventual return to racing, the latter of which is not expected to occur until June, at the earliest.

NOTICE TO INDUSTRY

Updates on the Re-Allocation of Purse Funds Program

Attention Horsepeople,

  • Cheques to cover April expenses are in the process of being issued. There is no need to apply for May cheques as we will be using information received for April.

  • The cheques for the last week of March eligible Standardbred horses have been mailed and should be received shortly.

  • A copy of your trainer’s invoice as well as proof of payment for the month of April will no longer be required for submission. We are requesting that trainers with owners in arrears on monthly expenses for the month of April alert Ontario Racing ([email protected]) prior to May 15.

  • We will work to re-schedule OSS races to later in the year depending on the date on which live racing resumes in the province.

Please note: It is not anticipated that there will be any live racing in the province during the month of May. For the protection of participants, regulatory officials and track employees we are working with the AGCO on establishment of protocols as we move, albeit with no spectators, toward the opening of racing.

Thank you for your patience as we move through this process.
