The field is set for the feature event this Saturday at Red Shores’ Charlottetown Driving Park. Post time for the 14-dash program will be 6 p.m. The top class is scheduled to post at 9:20 p.m.
Fresh off an opening-night victory, Bazillion will look to continue his winning ways for owner Kent Livingston. The six-year-old son of Village Jolt will enter Saturday having won four of his last five races, in which he has ‘laid down all of the numbers.’ Regular reinsman Brian MacPhee will drive for trainer Trevor Hicken.
Bazillion is not the only horse with a streak on the line.
Brian, Kevin and Lillian Ladner’s Best Risque will make her return to the Charlottetown oval and will put her perfect six-for-six season on the line. The nine-year-old daughter of Cammibest will lose her regular pilot, but will gain the services of Jason Hughes. The field of seven includes Brodys Leona, Smiley Bayama, Eagle Jolt, First Art Down and Idealic Life.
A full field of eight Open trotters will head postward for Race 4. The dash will feature the return of veteran Caliban Hanover, who will start from Post 8. Caliban Hanover banked more than $14,000 in purse earnings last year for owner Wendell MacDonald. Trainer Ronnie Gass is scheduled to do the driving.
Frill Seeker has been installed as the morning line favourite from Post 2 for the Ebbsfleet Stable and trainer/driver Kenny Arsenault. Frill Seeker earned more than $8,500 in purses last season. Frill Seeker will make his seasonal pari-mutuel debut Saturday. Frill Seeker is heading into the tilt off of a 2:02 victory in a qualifer. The race will also feature newcomer Sun Of A Victory. The mainland invader from the Chuckie Symes barn will get the services of Gary Chappell as he makes his first start since arriving from the Ontario circuit.
Prince Edward Island’s hottest driver, Corey MacPherson, will have nine drives on the 14-dash card. MacPherson, who has 21 wins from 56 starts in 2016, is 10 ahead of the next closest driver, Marc Campbell.
