The Raceway at Western Fair District will once again offer an exciting day of live racing and family-friendly activities for all ages on Kentucky Derby Day, Saturday, May 3.

Live harness racing will kick off at 1:15 p.m. with a delicious Southern Style menu being offered at the Top Of The Fair dining room. The afternoon will also feature the annual Dachshund Derby Wiener Dog races, a crowd favourite, which will be co-hosted by 98.1 Classic Rock’s morning show host Sara Rubino. There will also be a special mini horse race, as part of this summer’s Young Gunz series, that will give some of the area’s future stars their chance to shine.

In addition to the on-track action, guests can try food offerings from Western Fair’s Graze N Go mobile food eatery and Gateway Casino’s Match Food Truck while enjoying live entertainment provided by local performing artist Kristen Renee.

Fans will also be able to watch and wager on all of the action from Churchill Downs, including the live broadcast of this year's Run For The Roses. For the more serious Derby fans, don’t forget that the annual ‘Best Derby Hat’ contest will be part of the festivities along with other on-track giveaways.

"This is a fun-filled day for all ages and a perfect way to showcase live racing to our local audience,” said Amy O’Toole, The Raceway’s Manager of Equine Programming. “It’s a terrific lead-up to our signature event, the Camluck Classic, which comes up not long after that on May 30.”
