Trot Insider has learned that horseman James 'Jim' Richards of Aldergrove, BC passed away suddenly on Saturday, April 16 at Abbotsford Hospital
after an extended battle with cancer.
Aldergrove began working with horses while in Toronto before moving out to Cloverdale Raceway in 1976.
He won the first race on Cloverdale's opening day with a horse he trained for some members of the National Hockey League's Vancouver Canucks.
There will be no service by his request.
